The Project
Regarded as the birthplace of the basic Iron making process, Quantum Geotechnical, working in close conjunction with Cadw and Veryards and Partners, have undertaken a 30 week, £200, 000 Contract to renovate Blast Furnace No. 5. Stabilisation works involve:
- Devising safe systems of work in a confined working environment.
- Installation of RMD props for temporary support to masonry structures.
- Installation of 188 CINTEC anchors within 52 mm f wet cored holes using CINTEC qualified personnel.
- Re-facing of masonry structures.
Installation Details
- Prior to anchoring a risk assessment was undertaken to assess the influence of the removal of the temporary support system.
- Coring proceeded using a Nimbus Coring Rig drilling 52mm diameter holes.
- 300mm steel plates were attached to a brick facing built to accommodate the crown profile.
