Project: Ground Investigation for new access bridge across harbour

Denbighshire CC are proposing to construct a new access bridge across Foryd Harbour at the mouth of the River Clwyd.

To enable the design of the foundations, Denbighshire CC in conjunction with Hyder Consulting, appointed Quantum Geotechnical to undertake a Ground Investigation.

The Investigation comprised the following:

10 no cable percussive boreholes

6 no boreholes with rotary core follow-on to a maximum depth of 39m below ground level

5 no boreholes were drilled on land

5 no boreholes were drilled from scaffold platforms

Falling head permeability tests on all boreholes

All boreholes accurately surveyed

Soil and environmental tests were carried on samples from each borehole

The works were supervised by a full-time Engineering Geologist, who also logged the boreholes and cores.
